Animating a Slide
Purpose:  To have objects and text move into your presentation when you want them to appear.
1.
You have already typed your text and added your pictures to your presentation.  Now you want to set up the presentation so that they appear when you want them to.  Click Slide Show on the top toolbar and then click Custom Animation.

2.
The window below will appear.  Check what slide objects you want to animate.  You can animate as many of the objects as you would like.  In the section below the objects, click on the Ordering & Timing tab; the order of which the objects will appear is listed.  If the order is not what you want, click on the object you want to change, and use the Move arrows to adjust the order.  If you have a picture, you probably do not want to have that appear last because your audience will not view it very long before you click to the next slide.

3.
Next click on the Effects tab.  The slide object that is highlighted is the one you are working with so in the example below the effect will apply to Text 2.  The first selection is how the object will come into the presentation and the second selection is from what direction.  You can click on Preview to see the effect.

4.
The third selection is for a sound effect when the object appears.  A word of caution:  sound effects can be annoying to your audience if they cannot hear your presentation over the effect.

5.
You can choose to have effects done All at once or By Word or By Letter, but again remember that too many effects can be distracting from your message.
