Creating a Banner
Purpose:  To add a banner a slide to call attention to the text.
1.
On the bottom toolbar, click on the AutoShapes button and then point to Stars and Banners.  Click on one of the banners on the bottom two rows.

2.
The cursor becomes a crosshair.  Click where you want your banner to begin and drag with the left mouse button to make the banner the size you want.  When you release the mouse, the banner will appear in color.  If the banner is not where you want it, you can move your cursor on top of the banner until it turns into a four-headed arrow, and then you can click and drag to move it.  You can also resize it by dragging on the white squares.  By clicking and dragging on the yellow diamonds you can change the ratio of the banner.

3.
To change the color of the banner, click on the Fill Color button on the bottom toolbar.  If you do not see a color you want, click on More Fill Colors.

4.
You can click on the Standard tab to select a pre-made color, or you can click on the Custom tab to create a color.  Once you have selected a color, click OK, and the banner will now appear in the new color.

5.
To add text to the banner, click on the Text Box button on the bottom toolbar, and now your cursor becomes a wand.  Drag and create a box in the banner.  If you want your text centered, click the Center Align button on the top toolbar and then type your text.  Your text may appear on a different color background (as shown below), but once you click out of the text box, the background banner color will appear again.
