From the View menu, choose Outline.  Then the Outlining toolbar will appear.

2.
Now we need to format the outline.  First, make sure your cusor is at the top of the coument.  From the Format menu, choose Style.  From the Style dialog box, click Modify.

3.
From the Modify Style dialog box, check Automatically update, and from the Format pull-down menu,
choose Numbering.

4.
At the Bullets and Numbering dialog box, click on the Outline tab.  Choose the Roman numeral style and
click OK.

5.
This takes you back to the Modify Style dialog box where you can make other changes, for example, the font.

6.
For the English paper, the instructions state to use Times New Roman, size 12, and no bolding.  These changes have been made below.  Then click OK and then Apply.

7.
Type the text you want to use as your heading and then press Enter.  A new paragraph appears at the same level.
However, this topic is to be one level down, so click the Demote button on the outlining toolbar and press Enter.
