It’s Principal Appreciation Week, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the incredible leadership team we have across Unit 7.

From setting the tone in our buildings to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families—our principals and assistant principals go above and beyond every single day.

Unity West would like to give a big shout out to Mr. Floyd Fisher. Mr. Fisher has been instrumental in the transition of new leadership. If you know Mr. Fisher, you know he always has a joke to tell or a smart comment to make. Mr. Fisher brings personality, big ideas, and is the voice of West(morning announcements). Thank you so much for all you do. We are lucky to have you at West!!

Unity Families: Due to forecasted weather conditions, Unit 7 will be dismissed at 11:30am (11:15am for elementary schools) tomorrow - Wednesday, February 12.

Unity Families: Due to the dangerously cold wind chills expected tomorrow, Unit 7 will be utilizing an E-Learning day on Tuesday, January 21. Schools will be in touch with more details about E-Learning procedures, so keep an eye on your email and school communication channels. Stay safe, Rockets!

Unity Families: All Unit 7 Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 6, due to weather conditions. This will be a "traditional snow day," not an eLearning day. We expect to return to school on Tuesday.

4th Graders from East had a great field trip on Friday. They started the day visiting the Champaign County Courthouse to view the Abraham Lincoln musueum and meet with courthouse staff to learn about the judicial process. After a stop at the park for lunch they visited Reflections Memory Care in Savoy for an inter-generational visit where they enjoyed time with the residents and shared several rounds of bingo. Great job representing Unity, 4th grade!

Dear Parents and Guardians, Unit 7 is seeking a dedicated Social Worker or School Counselor who can truly make a difference for our students, and we’d love your help in finding the right person! If you or someone you know has experience with at-risk populations, counseling students, and conducting 504 evaluations, we want to hear from you. Our ideal candidate is passionate, compassionate, and ready to be a key player in our school community. Additionally, they must meet the Illinois certification requirements for a school counselor or school social worker. We’re open to considering a part-time arrangement if that fits someone’s schedule better. Back-to-School Night at Unity Junior High starts this afternoon at 4:00 pm with a class meeting for sixth grade parents and students. Open House for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade parents and students is from 4:30-5:30pm. Please remember to bring student schedules with you for locker combinations, etc. This is a great time to set up lockers, drop off supplies, pay fees in person, or drop of forms to the school nurse. UJHS will not be open on tomorrow morning due to an all-district in-service.

The Unity West Library will be closed on June 19th in observance of the Juneteenth federal holiday.

The Unity West Library will be open for all students to take AR tests this summer. Unity West students will be able to check out books during these times. Please follow the link for information on summer library hours https://5il.co/2m6od

The Unity West Girls on the Run team has been training for the Illinois Marathon 5K over the last few months. Unfortunately that event was cancelled this evening. However, the team will run tonight at Unity High School beginning at 7:30 pm. If you are able to come out and cheer the team on, we encourage you to do so.

Today - Tuesday, January 23 - Unit 7 schools will be using our district eLearning plan. There will be no in-person learning today. Information will be provided from each building regarding eLearning day guidelines and procedures. Stay warm and stay safe!
